Carol | And we have Angeline on the line, who's calling us from Sacramento. Angeline, are you there? |
Angeline | Yes, I'm here. Hello. |
Carol | Hello, Angeline, what's your concern? |
Angeline | Well, you see the thing is, I have a wonderful relationship with my husband, we've been married about nine years now, but a couple of months ago he changed jobs. Now he works so hard that when he arrives home in the evening he's worn out, and all he wants to do is relax in front of the television and go to bed and sleep. Well, I also work, but what I want to do in the evenings is go out and have a good time and relax a bit, and lately he won't join me, he really won't, and - I just don't know what to do. |
Carol | Christopher, have you got any suggestions about how we can help Angeline? |
Christopher | Yes. Angeline, I would suggest you actually speak to him about how you feel - see if you can convince him to come out with you, let's say, for one or two nights a week, and then you could offer to stay at home watching television with him another couple of evenings ... compromise, that's the thing - work at it and reach an agreement. |
John | Well Angeline, if I can make a point here, what I would suggest is that perhaps you could arrange to go out with some friends on your own. You could go for a drink, shopping, to the cinema or just for a walk. If he wants to spend time at home, that's quite all right, but I don't think you ought to let him stop you from doing what you really want. |
Carol | There you are, Angeline - I hope we've been of some help, and from all of us here we very much hope that you sort things out quickly. Now for a question from another listener, Jen, who's calling us from...
